Cutting carbs

I recently started eating low carb meals. I'm actually impressed with my own effort so far. I usually can't stick to anything (not just food related), but so far so good! I haven't eaten anything above my 'carb-limit', and I'm trying to stick to no more than 50 carbs pr. day. The reason I started this is because I really have been wanting to make a change in my eating habits for a while, but I don't believe in extreme diets. Plus, my goal is not to loose an extreme amout of weight. I could never do it, but most importantly, I don't need to! Also I hate the word 'diet!.' One of the reasons I got into the low carb eating, is because I have a friend who's been eating low carb meals for over a year. She's lost over 30 pounds just by eating low carb, and that's without working out. She was somewhat over weight when she started, that's why she lost so much. But even so, you do get rid of a lot of water in your body, which is basically my goal. I have no expectations or wants to 'peel pounds' of my body. I just wish to feel more balanced and better about my own eating. Plus, with low carb you can load up on fat! Today's dinner was chicken wrapped in bacon and home made cheese crisps with salad leaves on the side. Juuum!!!

I'll be keeping you updated on my.. progress I guess.
Do YOU have any experience with this eating routine?

I totally agree .... diets are bad, you just 'come off' it, but a healthy diet of balanced food, you can stick to :)

But I struggle with lowering carbs, I am a carb monster!! I know I would feel better, but the pasta and bread just keep calling my name!!

Keep us posted :)

I started a low carb/low sugar diet last week, and i'm really enjoying it so far.
Carbs cause cravings, and so if you cut out carbs you have... NO cravings. I've been eating when i'm hungry and no snacking at all. Low carb diets are harder to follow than no carbs, i'm including fruit as my carbs (because of their natural sugar content) and tailor it around an exercise programme.
I think the biggest mistake you could make is to increase your fat intake though, some fat is good for you (especially naturally occuring fat in cheese, butter, milk etc) but i think the reason The Atkins diet has so many bad side affects is that people go overboard on fats.

Good luck, your no carb experience will make a good addition to a wonderful blog xx

@SHELLY: Hi! I love bread and pasta as well! But it actually upsets my stomach quite a bit.. Which totally sucks!! So that's another reason why I'm trying this.. :-)

@MS. L. GRIFFIN: I'm including fruits as my carbs as well. I'm thinking I'll slowly ease the exercising in my plan eventually... :p I'm not planning to go overboard with the fat. I'm just eating like normal, but no carbs. I feel like I need fat to, well, live, and since there's no carbs in my diet, I'm not going to do like a.. fat-count in addition to that. Like I said, this is not a weight issue for me, cause I'm pretty happy with my weight. :-) I really liked hearing your input! Keep me updated on your progress as well?? You can always post on my Facebook, or message me on YouTube.
